Q. What are the signs of a gas leak in the home?

A. A rotten-egg smell (added odourant), hissing near appliances or pipework, dead or dying plants along a pipe run, and unexplained headaches or dizziness. If you smell gas strongly: turn the gas off at the bottle or meter, don't operate switches, ventilate, and call us from outside.

Q. Who do I call for a gas leak in NZ?

A. For a strong smell or suspected major leak, turn off the gas at the meter or bottle and call your gas network provider, or 111 if it's dangerous. For leaks at appliances or pipework on your property, call a licensed gasfitter: we detect and repair leaks and certify the fix.

Q. How is a gas leak detected?

A. We pressure-test the pipework, then trace with a gas detector and leak-check every joint and appliance connection with detection fluid. Once found, we repair the leak and re-test to certify the system is gas-tight.
