Q. What's the difference between stormwater and sewer drains?

A. Stormwater drains carry rainwater from roofs, driveways and yards to the stormwater system; sewer drains carry wastewater from your toilets, sinks and laundry to treatment. They're separate systems, and connecting the two is illegal, it overloads treatment plants and causes pollution.

Q. Who is responsible for stormwater drains on my property?

A. You are, up to where your drain connects to the council system (usually at the boundary, unless you use a soakpit soakage system). From that point the council owns and maintains it. We can CCTV your drains to pinpoint exactly where your responsibility ends.

Q. Do I need consent to add new stormwater drains?

A. Yes, new or altered drainage work needs a building consent in almost every case. As certifying drainlayers we can handle the consent application, build to code, and arrange council inspections for sign-off.
