Frequently Asked Questions

Q. No hot water, what should I check first?

A. Check the power or gas supply is on, and look for a tripped switch or blown fuse at the hot water cylinder. If supplies are fine and the water still runs cold, call us, the element, valve or unit itself is likely at fault.

Q. Mains pressure or low pressure cylinder, which is better?

A. Mains pressure cylinders give stronger showers and let you use modern tapware; low pressure systems are cheaper in some setups but suffer weak flow. Most replacements today go to mains pressure. We assess your existing pipework and advise which suits your house and budget.

Q. How long does a hot water cylinder last in NZ?

A. Typically 20–25 years for a mains pressure cylinder, less in hard-water areas. If yours is over 15 years, leaking from the seam, or running out of hot water faster than it used to, replacement is usually more economical than repair.

Q. How much does hot water cylinder replacement cost?

A. It depends on cylinder size, type (mains or low pressure, electric or gas), and whether pipework needs changing over. We supply and install, and quote fixed prices after a quick site assessment.
